2024
- All birds must be vaccinated for PMV at least 14 days before arriving at the loft.
- Accepting birds and replacements from March 15 to July 31, after July 31 we will not accept any more birds.
- When sending birds, breeders must print the Entry Form on the website and send it with the birds. CLICK HERE TO PRINT ENTRY FORM
- Perch Fee is $150 per bird. Every 10 birds sent, 1 perch FREE so 11 for $1,500, NO REFUNDS ON PERCH FEES WILL BE ISSUED AFTER BIRDS ARE RECEIVED BY FPD.
- Perch fee must accompany bird(s) upon arrival or prepaid, if perch fees are not received with the bird(s), we will assign these birds to Pending Perch Fees (Breeders Name will be under the birds Name) if perch fees are not received within 7 days, these birds will be placed in the For Sale - Florida Derby list. No exceptions.
- Entry fee is $400 per bird due after the 103 Mile Activation Trainer, every breeder is responsible to activate ALL BIRDS. All birds on the team must be activated. It’s an “All or Nothing” activation.
- Birds that entry fees were paid and does not make it to the first race (137 miles) this money will be held as a credit for any optional races or next year’s perch/entry fees.
- 20% of entry fees will be held for race expenses.
- We will be using BENZING clocking system & Wincompanion for live results.
- Birds will be vaccinated for PMV, treated for coccidiosis, canker, and internal/external parasites before entering the racing loft.
- No birds with Pox will be placed in the racing loft and will be returned at breeder’s expense.
- All birds must be banded with a 2024 seamless band recognized by a National Organization (AU, IF, CU...etc).
- All our Training and Races will be North Course along I-95 (training will begin in November)
- Activation Trainer will be from 103 miles sometime in December (date will be determined by Loft Manager)
- Breeders are responsible for making the Activation Payment within 10 days of the Activation Trainer, non paid birds will be sold and the breeder relinquishes all rights to the bird/s and any prize money.
- All non-activated birds will become property of Florida Pigeon Derby and will be removed from the race.
- All entered birds MUST compete in the entire race series. The ONLY birds removed from the race series will be those who the staff at the Florida Pigeon Derby deem are no longer capable of continuing due to illness or injury ONLY and for no other reason.
- We offer a 4 races series, 137 Miles, 185 Miles, 250 Miles, and 350 Miles (Distance can change at the manager’s discretion). These 4 Races count for Average Speed. Race dates are subject to change due to weather or the condition of the birds, the loft manager will have the final say.
- 103 Activation Trainer, 137 Mile, 185 Mile, 250 Mile & Optional Races will be paid by clocking order.
- Final Race will be held last week of January if weather and birds condition permits.
- Breeder retains ownership of all activated birds after the season is over.
- FINAL RACE ONLY (Drop, then Clocking Order). Arrival of the first birds together will be considered a drop and paid equally – (if 7 birds arrive together – the top 7 prizes will be added and split equally among the first 7 birds). If one or more bird/s that arrived in the first drop does not trap, this/these bird/s will be considered on the drop until another bird arrives. If a bird or more arrive and get mixed with the ones on the first drop that did not clocked they will be clocking order at this point. All other prizes after the first drop will be paid by clocking order.
- If there is an eligible bird on the drop that does not clock due to clock or chip malfunction, the loft manager will verify eligibility on all the birds on the drop and after verification this bird will be placed last in the drop order.
- ALL RACES are 48 hours from time of release. There is no dead time; the clock will be running until the race is finished. In the event that no birds clock within the 48 hour period, then prizes will be divided equally among actual birds sent to that particular race. If all prizes are not claimed within the 48 hour window of a particular race, the remaining prizes will be divided equally among the winners minus 20%.
- All races will be paid within 21 days of the final race (email your W-9 if you won $600 or more, send it via email ONLY. If you are part of a Syndicate one person has to send a completed W-9.
- A tax identification number recognized by the IRS (W-9 form) will be required prior to awarding of any prizes valued at $600 or more, and such awards will be reported as required by IRS regulations. Send us the W-9 and specify your Loft Name.
- If you are part of a SYNDICATE, it is your responsibility to make arrangements and make ONE PAYMENT ONLY, we do not want multiple breeders sending their portion, get together and make it work.
- After the Final Race if you want the birds back, the breeder Must Claim the birds within 15 DAYS of the final race by sending an email to floridapigeonderby@gmail.com (Specify your Loft Name). Not claimed birds will become property of Florida Pigeon Derby (Do not text Brito to claim your birds back, send us an email)
- Return shipping fees must be paid within 15 days of the Final Race, if you won money we can deduct from winnings. (no W9 no deductions, no payments will be issued)
- FPD will start shipping the birds back once ALL the RACES are over (including the optional 500 mile). All birds will be shipped to the registered name on Wincompanion (make sure this is up to date, we are not responsible if the bird/s were shipped to the wrong address. It is the breeders responsibility to keep the Wincompanion account up to date.
- We will not comply with any special shipping requests, no exceptions (all birds will be shipped to the address in Wincompanion).
- Shipping Fees as follows: 2 bird max per box $75 each box (We will use a brand new Horizon 18” x 8” x 12” box) If you have more than 2 birds you need to pay for multiple boxes depending on the amount of birds.
- FPD is not responsible for any lost bird/s from injury, illness, loft fly or failure to return from training tosses or races. All the birds will be equally managed.
- FPD will NOT make changes to loft names after July 31st. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- FPD reserves the right to make all the decisions.
- FPD reserves the right to deny participation in our race to any breeder or attendee not following the rules.
- FPD will not be held responsible for lost birds under any circumstance, including but not limited to shipping issues, government interference, illness, natural disaster, or theft.
- FPD will hand scan all the birds for shipping to the Activation Trainer and all the Official 4 Main Races (Electronic Chips and Wellness of the birds will be checked).

- Participants must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older to enter our race and responsible for their taxes duties.
- Visitors are always welcome by appointment only (call or text Brito at 786-439-8651).
- No breeder without exception, will be allowed to handle any bird competing at the FPD Race series under no circumstances. Only FPD staff can handle birds from the race.
- NO POOLING OR GAMBLING IS ALLOWED AT OUR PROPERTY.
- By sending birds to Florida Pigeon Derby, you agree to abide by all the rules.

4 Bird Team Competition
- The activation fee is $400 per team, payable prior to Race 1 (137 Mile Race). Payouts are handled separately from the main race.
- Birds must be nominated AFTER the Activation Race and BEFORE the 1st Race (137 Miles).
- If any of your birds in the team does not make it to the 137 Mile Race you can replace it, if you do, it needs to be before the 137 Mile Race.
- Once you nominate your 4-Bird Team you are not allowed to change or replace any birds from your team at any point after the first race (137 miles)
- Qualifying Races (137 miles, 185 miles, 250 miles, and Final Race 350-400 miles)
- Breeders can enter multiple teams, once you pick your 4 birds for a team they can only score points for that team, you cannot have a bird participating in different teams within the same competition.
- All 4 birds in your team are eligible to win points for that particular team.
- The team with the most accumulated amount of points after the Final Race (350-400 miles) will win the Team Competition.
- Starting points for each race will be based on the distance of the race times 4 (For Example: Race 1, 137 Miles (137 x 4 = 548 points), which means that the 137 Mile Race will have 548 points and this will be awarded to the top 10% regardless if they are participating in the team competition or not. Any bird that arrives after the top 10% get no points.
- The 185 Mile Race will have (185 x 4 = 740 points) this will be awarded to the top 10% regardless if they are participating in the team competition or not. Any bird that arrives after the top 10% get no points.
- The 250 Mile Race will have (250 x 4 = 1000 points) this will be awarded to the top 10% regardless if they are participating in the team competition or not. Any bird that arrives after the top 10% get no points.
- The Final Race 350 Miles will have (350 x 4 = 1400 points) this will be awarded to the top 10% regardless if they are participating in the team competition or not. Any bird that arrives after the top 10% get no points.
Gold Cup
- The activation fee is $200 per bird.
- Breeders can pick as many birds as they want.
- Birds must be nominated AFTER Race 2 (185 mile) Race and BEFORE the Final Race.
- If a Gold Cup pick bird gets lost before the final race you can use another bird to replace it or we will refund the money.
- Prizes will be paid out on the Final Race based on clocking order.
- Official Payouts will be posted once the Gold Cup is closed.
La Guerrera
- The activation fee is $300 per bird.
- Breeders can ONLY pick ONE bird, no exception.
- Bird must be nominated AFTER Race 2 (185 miles) and BEFORE the Final Race.
- If your pick bird is lost you can use another bird to replace it or we will refund the money.
- Prize will be paid out on the Final Race based on clocking order.
- There would be 1 prize only (Winner Take All) First bird on this option will take all the money in the pot.
- Official Payouts will be posted once La Guerrera is closed.
500 Mile Race
After the final race and depending on the number of birds the breeders can activate, we will consider offering a 500 Mile Race.
- The activation fee is $250 per bird due within 7 days after the Final.
- The optional 500 Mile race will be flown 2-3 weeks after the Final Race weather permitting.
- FPD will allow 10 days to sort and get paid for all the birds going to the 500 Mile Race.
- FPD will hold 20% of the 500 Mile Race entries for expenses.
For Sale
- We will offer birds for sale from the Top Breeders in the country and Breeders with good results in our race (Breeder Name will be under the bird’s name)
- Any person that decides to purchase a “For Sale” bird will be required to split 50/50 with the breeder any prize money won by the bird(s) in the Activation Trainer, 4 Main Races and Average Speed.
- Optional Races ARE NOT INCLUDED (4 Bird Team, Gold Cup, La Guerrera & 500 Mile Race)
- Buyer is responsible to pay the Perch Fee of $150 per bird and $400 per bird after the 103 mile Activation Trainer to maintain eligibility.
- The bird(s) belongs to the buyer after the Final Race.
